The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it has arrested a corporal in charge of the laundry facility at the Bay County Jail for Sexual Misconduct. Pedro Reyes was arrested for sexual conduct between himself and inmates.

Jail administration received information on Friday, November 8, Reyes had been involved in sexual relations with a female inmate at the jail facility. The BCSO Criminal Investigations division began an investigation.

The female inmate advised that the activity occurred in a storage area of the laundry facility at the jail, where Reyes is the laundry facility supervisor. The inmate stated that the sexual activity occurred on approximately three occasions from mid to late October. It appears that the sexual activity was not forced, however, due to the custodial relationship in the detention facility, sexual activity is illegal.

Reyes admitted to the investigators on November 12 that he had engaged in sexual activity with the inmate on at least seperate two occasions. Reyes was terminated and placed under arrest.

Reyes may have engaged in sexual activity with other female inmates and the investigation is ongoing. Additional charges could be possible.

Sexual Misconduct between Detention Facility Employees and Inmates is a third-degree felony. He was booked into the Bay County Jail Facility, and transferred to the Washington County Jail. Reyes had been an employee at the Bay County Jail since December 2008.
