(Update) Man Missing On Panama City Beach

Police have found the body of Cameron Tyler Smith, who was reported missing.

Panama City Beach Police confirmed that the body of Smith was recovered Wednesday morning.

He was found in a lake between Clara Avenue and Lyndell Lane where the homeless occasionally camp. Transients in the area a the time of the search were trespassed.

Foul play is not suspected. It is believed it was an accidental death and drugs may have been a factor.

The Panama City Beach Police Department is investigating a missing person, Cameron Tyler Smith, 20 years of age, of Rex, Georgia. Smith went missing in the area of the Purple Haze store located at 12518 Front Beach Road in the early morning hours of Friday, May 2, 2014.

Smith is a transient and was living in a tent next to a small body of water located behind the Purple Haze store. Law enforcement from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Florid Fish and Wildlife Commission have been assisting our department in the search for Smith. Smith is described as a white male, 5″11, 140 lbs., brown hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing black shorts or black pajama bottoms with no shirt or shoes.

Smith has the following tattoos: a music note on one of his fingers, a leaf on his right shoulder and a mushroom on his right forearm.

The Panama City Beach Police Department is requesting anyone with information regarding the possible whereabouts of Smith to contact the Panama City Beach Police Department at (850) 233-5000.
