The Bayou George Christian Church in Panama City will be hosting a workshop on Medicare on Saturday November 16th at 11:00 am CST and on Sunday November 17th at 4:00 pm CST. You can attend either workshop but don’t need to attend both.

The purpose of the workshop is to answer questions about the complexities of Medicare to help Medicare recipients make better choices and make the best use of Medicare.
Medicare is a national social insurance program, administered by the U.S. federal government since 1966, that guarantees access to health insurance for Americans aged 65 and older and younger people with disabilities as well as people with end stage renal disease (Medicare.gov, 2012) and persons with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
The workshop will address complexities in the Medicare program that may not be obvious to the average person and will help you to make better choices for options available under the program for recipients, or potential recipients, of Medicare benefits. There are many rules that apply to the program that will be discussed at the workshop.
Many people are confused as to what options are available and how to best use their benefits.
The workshop will discuss “open enrollment” that occurs during October 15th through December 7th.
It will also address how the new “HealthCare” Act, aka “Obamacare”, may affect Medicare, if at all, and answer the question, “do I have to enroll in Obamacare if I am on Medicare?”
Part A and B benefits under Medicare will also be discussed along with Medicare “advantage” programs and “zero cost” premiums. Drug plans will be discussed.
While the seminar will address general provisions and benefits of Medicare, appointments can be made available to discuss individual needs.
In summary, the workshop will address how Medicare works and will address local Medicare plans in our local area.
There is no cost to attend the workshop.
